Ionia Sentinel Standard, 2001

Ionia - Charles “Jerry” Piper, 65, of Ionia, passed away Friday, Dec. 28, 2001, 
in Ionia.  He was born Dec. 24, 1936, in Palo, the son of Charles and Lucille 
Johnson Piper.  He was an Air Force veteran.  He drove a school bus for Ionia 
and Palo Schools for 10 years.

He is survived by his special companion, Jean Nelson, of Ionia; his daughters 
and sons-in-law, Kelley Brewer of Howard City, Cindy and Troy Newton of 
Pierson, Jody and Marty Owen of Howard City; brother and sister-in-law, William 
and Dee Ann Piper of Sheridan; sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Jerry 
Werner of Muir; and grandchildren, Amber and Carle Tapley of Greenville, 
Michael Brewer, Joshua Brewer, Megan Owen, all of Howard City, Heather Newton 
and Colton Newton, both of Pierson.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Jack Piper.

Funeral services were 11 a.m. today at Shiloh Community Church, with the Rev. 
Kenneth Harger officiating.  Anyone wishing may make memorial contributions to 
Ionia Area Hospice or Shiloh Community Church.   Lake Funeral Home, Ionia, is 
serving the family.
