Ionia Sentinel-Standard - Thurs. July 19, 2012

DeForest A. Piper, 45, of Ann Arbor formerly of Ionia passed away July 15, 2012 
in Ann Arbor. He was born June 10, 1967 in Saginaw, the son of Fred Piper and 
Ann Balzell. DeForest graduated from Ionia High School in 1985 and late from 
Eastern Michigan University with a Bachelor's Degree. He was an avid 
photographer and artist. He loved to champ and spend time with his friends. He 
was a member of the SCA. 

DeForest is survived by his father, Fred (Diane) Piper of Ionia; mother, Ann 
Balzell and Joe Marrone of Portland, Ore.; girlfriend, Kelly Carnahan; brother, 
Andrew Piper and Elizabeth Lang of Jefferson City, Mo.; sister, Sarah (Jon) 
Thompson of Belding; grandmother, Dorothy Balzell of Grand Rapids; nieces, 
Sophia, Isabel and Ava; nephews, Gabe and Owen; many aunts, uncles and cousins 
and numerous SCA friends.

Memorial Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 20, 2012 at Bertha Brock 
Park in Ionia in the front Pavilion.

Visitation will be held 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Lake Funeral Home in 
Ionia.

Anyone wishing may make memorial contributions in DeForest's name to Hall
