Funeral services for Ralph Piselli, 48, Ionia tavern operator, who died of a heart 
attack on Main street Monday evening, will be held Friday morning at 9 o'clock at 
SS. Peter and Paul church.

Piselli died in the arms of City Marshal Harry Lyle, who had been called by Piselli

to subdue a man creating a disturbance in his establishment. Lyle stated that 
Piselli had approached him and Lester Richards, night watchman, as they were 
standing near the State bank and told them of the excitement going on in the tavern.

As we started back to the tavern, Piselli started to fall", Lyle said. "We took him

into a doorway where the pavement was dry and before he could be taken to a doctor 
he expired in  my arms."

Born in Italy, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Piselli, he came to Ionia in 1912. In 
1914 he returned to Italy and was married in 1919 there. He again returned to the 
United States in 1920 and Mrs. Piselli came to Ionia a few months later. He operated

a tavern at 206 West Main street and a gas station and grocery store on West Lincoln

avenue. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose.

Surviving are the wife, Marie; three children, Frank, a student at the University of

Grand Rapids, and Lois and Edith at home; a sister, Concetta Aiello, of Racine, 
Wis.; and three brothers and a sister in Italy.

Rosary will be said at the home on West Lincoln avenue Thursday at 8 p.m.
