Feb. 27, 1965 Funeral service will be Monday at 2:30 p.m. at Boynton funeral home for William D. Pitchford, 53, who died after a short illness Friday evening at Ionia Manor. He resided on Bluewater Highway, route one. Born in Clinton County, July 16, 1911, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Pitchford and was married in St. Johns to Gladys Rier, December 24, 1932. Mr. Pitchford had lived in the Ionia area the past 24 years and was a farmer and the past few years operated the Pitchford excavating business. He is survived by his wife, Gladys; a son, Jerry W. Pitchford of Memphis, Tenn.; three daughters, Mrs. Duane Greenhoe, and Mrs. Claude Thomas, of Ionia, and Mrs. Michael Richardson of Phoenix, Ariz.; four brothers, Walter and Charles of Ionia route one, Theodore of Grand Ledge and Harold of Sunfield; one sister, Mrs. Martha Smith of Grand Ledge and 11 grandchildren. Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Lester C. Bailey of First Methodist Church and interment will be at Saranac cemetery. Contributions for a memorial to the cancer fund will be accepted at the funeral home. The family will be at the chapel from 2 to 5 and 7 until 9 p.m., Sunday.
