The Ionia Daily Sentinel-Standard, Monday, May 14, 1956


Earle R. Pitt, 78, died Saturday evening, May 12 at 11:30 at Ionia Convalescent 
home, where he had been a patient the past year and a half.  

Born November 5, 1877 in Montcalm county, he was employed by the Lansing State 
Journal for 50 years, prior to his retirement in 1947.  He was a life member of 
the F&AM lodge number 33 of Lansing and was also a member of the Newspaper 
Guild.  At the time of his retirement, he was honored at “Earle Pitt and State 
Journal Appreciation Day” by the North Lansing Commercial club. 

Surviving are his wife Mildred and one cousin.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 3 o’clock at the Boynton 
funeral home with the Rev. George Rentschler officiating.  Intombment will be 
in Highland Park mausoleum.
