He had been living with her the past two years. The services were conducted by Rev. W. F. Kendrick. Burial was in the Orleans cemetery. Mr. Pitts served as truant officer in the Ionia county rural school system at one time, and later in the same capacity in the city schools here. Born November 21, 1885, in Orleans township, he resided there until his retirement from farming in 1920. At that time he moved to 223 East Washington street, Mrs. Pitt died there March 1, 1927, and shortly afterward, Mr. Pitt broke up his home to make his residence with his daughter near Chicago. He had visited Ionia frequently during the years in between. Surviving is the daughter, Mrs. Mills; a brother, Frederick Pitt, at Orleans; and three nephews, Frederick Alderman, of Georgia; Abe Alderman of Washington, D.D., and Norman Pitt, of Cleveland, O.
