E. E. Branch officiating. Singing was by Mrs. G. M. Phelps. Shopmen attended in a body. This is one of the saddest of the many distressing cases caused by the great calamity. The attendance at the funeral of Earl J. Pixley, was very large, by many railroad men as well as by citizens generally. The floral offerings were noticeably profuse and beautiful. The friends present at the funeral from out of the city were: Mr. and Mrs. D. E. Jennings of Turner, Mich., Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Meershoot of Atlanta, Iowa. Dr. Edward W. Martina and wife, Kansas City, Mo.—the three ladies mentioned being sisters of Mrs. Pixley, John Fralick and wife, he is a brother of Mrs. Pixley, Pontiac, Mrs. L. Pixley, mother of deceased, of Lansing, and his sister and husband, Geo. Outwater and wife of Parthenon, Mich. Messrs. Walter Garner and Samuel Burgess of Port Huron. A Correction: Editor Standard: I desire to correct the statement appearing in the public press that Mr. E. E. Pixley left his family in destitute circumstances. I have personally investigated the matter. Mr. Pixley provided well for his family and left $2300.00 paid up insurance. He had turned over his last pay check to Mrs. Pixley, but on the morning of the wreck, she had requested him to take the money as she did not like to be left with the sum of money in the house. Mr. Pixley received a good salary, was devoted to his family and provided well for them.
