Loretta was born in Hasting's, MI on April 8, 1947, the daughter of the late Kenneth Gardner and Theda (Weeks) Gardner. She was raised in the Nashville area and attended local schools graduating from Maple Valley High School in 1965. Loretta continued her education studying business at Kellogg Community College. On June 18, 1965 she was married to Mr.Donald Pixley and the couple established their home together in the Nashville area where they raised their two children together. Loretta was a dedicated homemaker for several years while her children where growing. In 1979 Loretta began driving school bus for Maple Valley Schools which she did faithfully for over 28 years. During that time, she also served as the Castleton Township treasurer retiring in 2007 after 23 years. In 2006 Loretta began a beautiful relationship with Larry Hook. Larry and Loretta spent the next 18 years enjoying each other company and traveling the United States on bus trips which Larry especially enjoyed because he didn't have to drive! For many years, Larry and Loretta enjoyed participating in the Route 66 Classic Car show in Nashville which gave them the opportunity to enjoy time with many friends and neighbor. Most recently, the couple had moved onto Jordan Lake in Lake Odessa,MI where they enjoyed the most magnificent sunsets from their deck. Loretta is survived by her daughter, Dawn (Ted) Hall; grandchildren, Joshua and Cody Hall, David Emily and Logan Pixley; two great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Maxine Pixley, and sister-in-law, Candice (Dennis) Mapes. She was preceded by her husband, Donald Pixley in 1997; her beloved friend,Larry Hook in 2024; son, Scot Pixley; her siblings, Duane(Janet) Gardner; brother-in- law, Leonard Pixley, and infant granddaughter, Kelly Mae Pixley. The funeral service was held Thursday, April 4, 2024 at the Daniels Funeral Home, Nashville, conveniently located at 9200 E.M.79 Hwy., Nashville,MI with pastor Crystal Fox officiating. Interment took place following the funeral luncheon at Lakeview Cemetery in Nashville,MI. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Daniels Funeral Home in Nashville,MI.
