LT. PLANT NOW LISTED AS DEAD, MISSING 17 MOS.
Former Portland young Man was Shot Down While Serving in Pacific

The Navy department reported Wednesday, according to AP dispatches the Lt. (jg) 
Claude W. Plant Jr., previously reported as missing in action, is now listed as 
dead. Lt. Plant, the son of Mr and Mrs Claude Plant Sr., of this village, was a 
gradate of Portland High school.

Lt. (jg) CLAUDE PLANT Jr.
Lt. Plant had been given the permanent and temporary citation for the air medal, 
the distinguished flying cross, the silver star award. He was reported missing 
in action September 18, 1944, while serving with the Naval Airforce in theh 
Pacific.
