Excerpts from Greenville Obituary

JOSEPH E.PLANTAMURA

Died Monday April 6, 2026-age 73 at Grand Rapids,MI.
Born June 15, 1932 in Iona<MI, son of the late Joe & Jennie (Mercadante) 
Plantamura.
Graduated from SS.Peter & Paul Academy in Ionia & later attended General Motors 
Institute in Flint.
Served in the U.S. Army from 1952-1954 during Korean conflict.
Employed for 44 years in Auto dealership, retiring in 1996.
Joe was involved in the community, in the Catholic church, the Lions Club, & the 
American Legion.
He enjoyed camping, flying, golfing, playing bocce & cruising vacations.
Survived by his four daughters, Susan (Dale) Slack of Hoschton, GA; Diane Smith 
of Longboat Key,FL; Julie (Pat) Greene of Grand Rapids,MI; & Mary Joe Klotz of 
Byron Center,MI.
Grandchildren,Ali Slack,Michael Greene, John Greene & Austin McCrory and Great-
grandchildren,Lexie & Lucas.
Preceded in death by his parents, infant son,Michael; brothers, Vito & Gus 
Plantamura; sisters, Theresa Spyker & Angie Harwood.
Celebration of Life will be held at 11:30a.m. on Friday,June 26, 2026 at 
O'Brien-Eggebeen-Gerst Funeral Home in Grand Rapids, where visitation will begin 
at 10:30.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or a charity 
of your choice.
Words that Joe leaves behind."I will miss you all but thank you for a wonderful 
life.See you all in our next life."
