Platte, 91, of Westphalia died Feb. 5, 1996. Mrs. Platte was born in Westphalia Jan. 7, 1905, the daughter of Bernard and Mary (Bengel) Simon. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Christian Mothers. Survivors include seven daughters, Kathleen (Herman) Miller, Joann (Frank) Koenigsknecht, both of Pentwater, Bernice (Joseph) Esch of Pewamo, Rose Marie (Herman) Gensterblum of Portland, Beatrice Platte of Lansing, Ellen (Kenneth) Bailey of Portland, and Ann (Paul) Thelen of Fowler; four sons, Edward and Delbert (Marguerite), both of Lansing, Armon (Joane) of Portland and Bernard (Sharon) Platte of Mansfield, Ohio; one daughter-in-law, Charlotte Platte of Portland; 44 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; one brother, Ted Simon of East Lansing; and one sister, May Rose Armbrustmacher of Fowler. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; her son, Jerry; her daughter-in-law, Shirley; and several grandchildren. The Rosary was recited Feb. 7 and 8. Mass of the Christian Burial was celebrated Feb. 9 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, with Rev. James Schmitt officiating. Interment followed at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the Fr. Al Miller Educational Trust Fund. Arrangements were handled by Gorsline-Runciman Neller Chapel in Portland.
