Aug. 5, 2016 Excerpts from Obituary: MARVIN JULIUS PLATTE Marvin Julius Platte of Portland Died Wednesday August 3, 2016-age 86 Born Aril 4, 1930 at Westphalia, son of Ferdinand and Antoinette (Arens) Platte. Served on front lines of Korea War with the Army 2nd Division 38th Regiment on the Hill of Baldy, that divides North & South Korea. Awarded the Combat Infantry Badge. Member of the St. Patrick Church, Catholic Order of Foresters, VFW Post #3373, and the band Frannie and the Swingsters, popular in the 50's & 60's. Was appointed on the Clinton Road Commission for 9 years, a farmer & in the tiling business. Preceded in death by parents a brother, Kenneth. Survived by wife of 57 years, Mary (Thelen), 5 children, 7 grandchildren, 5 siblings, and 6 in-laws. The rosary will be prayed Friday at 3:00 p.m. Visitation Friday 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at Lehman Funeral Home, Portland Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday August 6 at 1 a.m. at St. Patrick Church, Portland.
