Oct. 23, 1941 James E. Plumb Dies at Home Here Sunday Following but a few weeks upon the death of his wife, James E. Plumb passed away at his home on East Street Sunday. He had been in ill health for several months and was seriously ill at the time of the death of Mrs. Plumb. Mr. Plumb was born in Dwight, Illinois, in 1871, and had been a resident of Portland for more than 40 years. He was a carpenter by trade and was employed at his work until compelled to retire because of ill health about a year ago. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. A.P. Barber, of Charlotte, and Mrs. J.W. Stewart, of Dexter, Missouri. There is one sister, Mrs. C.E. Farrell, of Alpena. He was a member of the Portland Methodist church. Funeral services were held at the Neller Home Tuesday afternoon at 2:30, in charge of Rev. Warren Brown, of Marshall, assisted by Rev. N.B. Lawrason, of Portland. Bearers were Herbert Holloway, Seymour Mull, Henry Wrath, George Stewart, John Spotts and Harold Guilford. Burial was in Portland Cemetery.
