          WM. POFF PASSES GREAT DIVIDE WED.

                                  ----------

      ENERGETIC AMBITION CONQUERED ONLY 

         BY DISEASE, RESIDENT MANY YEARS

                                  ----------

   William Poff for many years a resident of Lake Odessa succumbed to that arch
enemy we all hate-disease-
only after trying many months to ward it off, passing away Wednesday morning at 2
o'clock.

   Mr. Poff was an ambitious man apparently going beyond his strength, but at all
times meeting his friends on 
the street with the most genial cheer.

   He has had several attacks in the last year and his life has been dispaired of
but he has overcome each time 
with a surprising vigor.

   The Poff family lived here several years ago, then moved away but returned about
five years ago.  They 
going into business on the west side of north main street.  Later as the business
grew the father purchased 
the former creamery building for his business and the son Howard purchased the
building formerly known as 
Janes or Anway garage on the east side of north main street.

   Last week Mr. Poff rented his building to Burt Hanson

   The village loses a faithful citizen. 

   The family have th sympathy of many friends.

   The funeral will be held Friday at two o'clock from the residence.
