Pohl, 76, of 1800 Lillian Boulevard, Portland, died April 24, 1988, at the Michigan Veteran’s Home in Grand Rapids. Mr. Pohl was born Feb. 10, 1912, the son of Nicholas and Anna (Schmitt) Pohl. He was a retired truck driver, a veteran of World War II, a member of American Legion Post 129, and a member of the Knights of Columbus. Survivors include three brothers, Roman Pohl of Westphalia, Leo Pohl of DeWitt, and Joseph Pohl of Portland; two sisters, Julia Martin of Portland and Edna Weber of Pewamo; and several nieces and nephews. A Rosary service was held April 25 at Neller Funeral Home, Portland. The funeral Mass was celebrated on April 26 at St. Patrick’s Church in Portland with the Rev. Richard VanLente as celebrant. Interment was in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Westphalia. Pallbearers were Ronald Pohl, Leo Pohl, Dennis Pohl, Melvin Martin, Leon Weber, and Marvin Weber.
