Portland Review - March 8, 2009


Wanieta Ilene Pohl, 73, of Portland, passed away on march 3, 2009 after a 
courageous battle with leukemia.

She was born on March 29, 1935 in Grand Ledge, the daughter of Rev. Herbert and 
Beulah (Hayes) Maguire. Mrs. Pohl retired from General Motors after 29 years of 
service and also worked as a truck driver. She enjoyed playing euchre and bingo 
and loved her dog, M.C. 

She married Lawrence Pohl Sr. on April 28, 1972 and together they enjoyed 
wintering in Florida and Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Dollie Burns, Harold 
Maguire, LaVail Maguire; mother and father-in-law, Peter and Margaret Pohl; 
brothers and sisters-in-law, Irene and Homer Potter, Don Love, Doris Maguire, 
Jr. Hughes, Patricia Pohl, and Rosie Pohl.

Surviving are her husband of 36 years, Lawrence Pohl Sr.; children, Kathy 
(Walt) Conley, Larry Pohl, Jr. and Lonnie (Shelly) Pohl; six grandchildren; 
siblings, Alice (Jim) Bunker, Ivan (Maxine) Maguire, Leone (Ron) Holland, 
Loraine Love, Neoma (Bill) Crowner, Ollie (Gene) Clifton, and Virginia Hughes; 
brothers and sisters-in-law, Edward Pohl, Marianne (Ed) Eldridge, Raymond 
Bugbee, Thomas (Ardella) Pohl, and Ruth Maguire; several nieces and nephews. 

The funeral service was conducted by the Rev. Keith Treman, Pastor of the 
Portland United Methodist Church on March 6 at the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral 
Home, Portland. Interment followed at Portland Cemetery.
