T. Pope who died March 6th was very largely attended at the home Monday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock, Rev. G. W. Maxwell pastor of the M. E. church officiated and spoke very appropriate words for the occasion. Out of respect Factory B was closed for the afternoon and all the employees attended in a body and preceded the casket to the cemetery on foot, many flowers and floral pieces attested the esteem in which he was held. His sons and two sisters were present. William Thomas Pope was born March 29, 1849 in Shiawassee county, Caledona township. His mother died when he was six years of age leaving him dependent upon his own resources. He was united in marriage to Zella Ann Horton at Dimondale, Eaton County, Mich., March 29, 1874, she departed this life August 12, 1899. Three children were born to this union, Claude J. of Detroit, Verne B and Glenn W. of Grand Rapids. He was again united in marriage to Miss Marie Conant October 23, 1901, two children were born to this union, Harold and Carlton, the youngest being taken from them July 9, 1911. Those left to mourn his loss are wife, four children and three sisters, Mrs. Anna Byerley of Owosso, Mich., who was unable to attend the funeral, Mrs. Rachel Fox of Elsie, Mich., and Mrs. Lucy Davison of Fort Collins, Colorado, besides scores of warm friends.
