Popendick, 85, of 111 Rich St., Ionia, died at her residence Wednesday afternoon. Funeral announcements will be made later by the Myers-Roetman Funeral Home. _____________________________ Sentinel-Standard - Friday, January 23, 1981 IONIA- Myra E. Popendick, 85, of 111 Rich St., died Wednesday at her residence. She was born Feb. 15, 1895 in Kalkaska, Mich. to Samuel L. and Nellie (Soper) Terry. She spent the early part of her life in the northern part of Michigan where her father was a lumber inspector. She was a graduate of Kalkaska High School and the Soo Business College at Sault Ste. Marie. She was a bookkeeper at Fullers Lumber Co. at Watersmeet and Ely in northern Michigan. Following her marriage, she came to Ionia where she was employed as head bookkeeper for E. H. Stafford Mfg. Co. from the mid 1920's through 1936 then Stafford-Johnson Company through 1941, then Ionia Desk Company through 1952. She was also a bookkeeper-cashier for Associated Truck Lines from 1953 to 1968. She spent her retirement writing and painting. She was a member and former treasurer of the Business and Professional Women of Ionia. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church and its treasurer for 25 years. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Edgar (Marie) Harkness, Mrs. Walter (Naomi) Phelps; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Maiziegelle Churchill of Florida: and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Seventh Day Adventist Church with the Rev . Richard Dickens officiating. Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery. The family will be at the Myers-Roetman Funeral Home Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. to meet friends and relatives. A memorial has been established for the Seventh Day Adventist Church and may be left at the funeral home.
