The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Saturday, January 2, 1971

Wesley G. Porter, 89, of 322 Alderman, Belding, died Friday at Belding 
Community hospital.  He was born January 2, 1881, at Mt. Pleasant the son of 
George and Martha Porter.  June 27, 1906 he was married in Paris to Selma 
Westerland and she died in 1962.

He was a member of First Baptist church, life member of Masonic lodge 355 
F&AM, DeWitt Clinton Consistory.  He was a self employed mechanic.  He joined 
Belding fire department in 1902 and was a fire chief 38 years.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. John Wheeler of Belding and Mrs. John 
Weatherford of Miami, Fla. 

Funeral services will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at Huffman funeral home in Belding.  
Rev. Robert Lilley will officiate and also Belding lodge F&AM.  Interment will 
be at River Ridge cemetery.
