Mrs.Porter was born in Conway,Mass In early life her parents, with children God had lent them-moved to Ontario county, N.Y. Dec.31st 1823. She was married to Elkanah Porter, and the following year moved to Barre, now Albion. Father, Mother, husband, two sons and one daughter preceded her in the march to the heavenly home. She was the last one of eight brothers and sisters to join the white-robed hosts. There survive her, three sons and one daughter, Carlos D.Porter, with whom she lived and was tenderly cared for in the evening of her days, Myron L. of Knowlesville, George, of Michigan, and Mrs. Esther Stocking, the wife of Jared Stocking. The mother Porter had a large circle of friends as she lived near the old home, in the evening of her days, in which she and her husband took up the tangled thread of life nearly sixty years ago. Life gradually uncoiled with her.For years the messenger was busy inclosing up the avenues through which she communicated her thoughts and affections to the world, taking out the tent-pins, and pulling down the walls.Eight years previous to her departure the light of life gradually went out, still she lived on, in the old shattered tent and was watched over and every want was even anticipated by her son and his wife with whom she lived, who were faithful in the discharge of every filial affection. The funeral services over her mortal remains took place at her late home on Thursday following her departure, Rev. Thomas Borden officiating. A large number of the friends and neighbors gathered to bear their testimony to the wide-spread esteem in which she was held.
