Possehn, 69, farmer route one, Portland, died about 2:00 p.m. on Sunday afternoon at Pennock hospital in Hastings where he was hospitalized for several weeks. He was born in Odessa township on December 2, 1891, son of August and Amelia Stencil Possehn and married Bertha Schroeder on October 22, 1913 and had been a lifelong resident of the area. Mr. Possehn was a member of the St. Johns Lutheran church at Ionia. Surviving are his wife, five sons, Harold, Donald and Thomas of Lake Odessa, Herbert and Raymond of Portland; three daughters, Mrs. Stephen (Hulda) Sutton of Portland, Mrs. Horace (Helen) Godwin of Detroit and Mrs. Robert (Lucille) Heppe of Orleans; one brother, Clarence of Saranac; four sisters, Mrs. Carl Graul of Portland, Mrs. Marvel Church of Clarksville, Mrs. Louise Schroeder of Lake Odessa and Mrs. Lynn Townsend of Ionia and 17 grandchildren. Funeral services were held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Pickens funeral chapel with burial in Balcom cemetery. Rev. Theodore Timler of Ionia officiated.
