Laverne Clarence Possehn, aged 83, of Saranac, passed away Oct. 19, 2007.  He 
was born March 18, 1924 in Orange Township, the son of Clarence and Lena 
(Hoffman) Possehn. Laverne married Viola Mae Kamradt May 3, 1946. She preceded 
him in death Aug. 16, 2007. He served in the US Navy during WWII. He was a 
life long member of St. Johns Lutheran Church in Ionia and a member of Saranac 
American Legion. He owned and operated Possehn Gravel.

Laverne is survived by his children, Ron “Buzz” Possehn and Sallie Barrix of 
Saranac, Bonnie Fewless of Ionia and Debra (Dave) Griebel of Belding; brothers 
Gordon Possehn of Lowell; sisters Norma Jean (Jack) Staal of Lowell and 
Virginia Wingeier of Smyrna; sisters-in-law, Evelyn (Max) Wiles; grandchildren 
Tina (Greg) Wolbers of Ionia, Jennifer Fewless of Florida, Ty Possehn and Amy 
Sherman of Ionia, Sherrie Fewless (Cliff) Vaughn of Georgia, Lisa (Armando) 
Parra of Lowell, and Heather Griebel of Lowell; great-grandchildren CJ 
Wolbers, Carter Wolbers, Marissa Griebel, Gavin Possehn and Armando David 
Parra and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by infant 
daughter Connie.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at Lake Funeral Home in Saranac 
with Pastor John Williams officiating. Internment at Easton Cemetery. The 
family will receive friends and relatives Monday 2 to 4 and 7 to 8:30 at the 
funeral home. In lieu of flowers , contributions may be made to Ionia Area 
Hospice.
