June 20, 2013 Edward M. Potocny, 83, of Muir, died Sunday June 16, 2013 at Metro Health Hospital in Wyoming. Edward was born on Feb. 11, 1930 in Isabella County, the son of Joseph and Regina (Mazywelski) Potocny. He graduated from Ionia High School and proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He retired after 30 years of work at General Tire in Ionia. He enjoyed hunting; fishing, raising registered beagles and was a past member of the American Kennel Club. He was married on Jan. 12, 1957 in Saranac to Joyce Davis and she preceded him in September of 2010. Edward was also preceded by his daughter, Delta; parents; brothers, Leonard and Joseph; and his sisters, Leona, Elaine, Lillian, Sophia and Louise. He is loved and survived by his daughter, Terry Potocny of Muir; his grandchildren, Tabitha, Jonathon, Brittney and Justin; and his great grandchildren, Aaliyah, Kelsey, Rhiley, Savannah, Sophia, Alexia, Audrina, Brooklyn and Amya. In keeping with his wishes, no visitation or funeral will take place. Burial will take place privately in Balcom Cemetery, Ionia. Memorials may be given the Safe Haven Animal Shelter.
