Potter, 81, of Zephyr Hills, Fla, died Wednesday at Lakeland General Hospital. He was born Sept.23, 1900 in Saranac, the son of George and Esther Ellison Potter. He was graduated from Saranac High School and married Erma Dick. They celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary June 28. He worked for many years at Michigan Reformatory, retiring in 1959 as a vocational teacher. They moved to the Muskegon River area and then to Zephyr Hills where he resided for the past 14 years. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Zephyr Hills. Surviving are one son, George Potter, of Grandville, one daughter, Mrs. Lewis (Anna) Guernsey, of Ionia, five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends at his daughter’s home, 555 Beresford St., Ionia, Friday from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. Graveside services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. from the Easton Cemetery with the Rev.
