Man Dies At Work In Ionia
Robert Edward Potter, 60, of Lyons, died about 10:15 Friday morning at the 
Ionia Manufacturing Company.

Coroner Neil Phelps and an Ionia physician who were called, said death was 
due to a heart condition.

Members of the Potter family, who were called to the plant, said he had not 
been feeling well for several days.

Coroner Phelps said Potter was taken ill about 10 o'clock Friday morning and 
apparently got on an elevator to go home or to the first aid station.

While riding down on the elevator he slumped over and was caught by the 
operator before he fell.

Phelps said he was removed from the elevator on a cot to the first aid room 
where he was dead when admitted.

Plant protection men at the Ionia Manufacturing company went to Lyons and 
brought members of the Potter family to Ionia.

The body was taken to the Shaw-Rivett funeral home in Muir.
