Ionia Sentinel-Standard
Mrs. Geraldine Lucille Pottruff, 61, of 9014 Wagar Road, Lyons, died Friday 
evening at Lansing General Hospital after a long illness.  She was born Nov. 22, 
1924, in Gratiot County, the daughter of Orville and Sadie Kiefer.  She was a 
1942 graduate of Ionia High School, and married Dexter Pottruff in August, 1960.  
She was a retired employee of Meijer’s Thrifty Acres, and she was also a cook 
for the Ionia Free Fair.

Survivors include her husband, Dexter, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Orville Kiefer 
of Route 1, Ionia; three sons, James Scheaffer of Ionia, Gary Sheaffer of Muir, 
and Richard Sheaffer of Palo; one daughter, Carol Sheaffer of Ionia; one sister, 
Mrs. Arlene Challender, of Portland; eight grandchildren, and one great-
grandchild.

Funeral services were Monday, at Hull Memorial Chapel in Muir. The Rev. Paul 
Carmichael of the Lyons Baptist Church, officiated.  Later burial will be at 
Sunset Memorial Gardens.  A memorial fund for the Diabetes Association has been 
established.
