February 4, 1916 EARL POTTS DIED MONDAY MORNING Suffering Ended At 3:00 A.M. Had Been In Poor Health For Over Ten Years. Earl Potts, son of Mr and Mrs. H. J.Potts, died early Monday morning at their home here from consumption. For over ten years he has been in poor health, which condition made him the easy prey of that dread disease. The first trouble with his lungs occurred about 10 or 11 years ago, at which time a physician was consulted, who treated hm and he apparently seemed as strong and robust as ever. But soon after his people moved here, about nine year ago he was taken with diphtheria, following which he suffered an almost complete stroke of paralysis. In due course of time he recovered from the disease, but of course had been greatly weakened by it. Later he serveral times suffered from trouble with his lungs, which seemingly became weaker and weaker, until about three years ago he was taken with a severe attack of pneumonia, which of course had its effect. But his health picked up again and he was able to resume his work before spring. He seemed to be somewhat on the gain until about six months ago, when he again began to gradually weaken, until about three months ago, when he was forced to leave his work at Grand Rapids and return to the home of his people here. Since then his condition grew worse and worse until his death. Although he has worked at his trade as barber quite steadily for the past five or six years and at times has appeared to be fairly healthy, still it has been several year since he enjoyed real good health. The deceased was born on a farm about one mile east of this village, on March 24, 1888. About four yeas ago he married to Miss Gladys Fox of this place, to which union were born two children, one dying in infancy.
