The death of Ray Powell, 66, Otisco township farmer was a distinct shock to his 
relatives and neighbors Monday night.  Earlier in the evening Mr. Powell had 
accompanied Rev. Frank Loomis to Saranac and it was shortly after retiring that 
death came.  Just recently Mr. Powell suffered an attack of pneumonia and it is 
thought that the disease weakened his heart.

Mr. Powell resided with his brother, Alonzo, on the Will Cowles farm.  Three 
years ago he lost his wife, Esther Divine Powell.  Funeral services will be 
held from the Fitzjohn funeral home Thursday afternoon at 2:30.  Rev. Frank 
Loomis of Saranac will officiate and burial will be made in the White Swan 
cemetery, Oakfield township.
