Ionia Daily Sentinel-Standard - Wed. July 14, 1954


Mrs. Julia Powell, 92, formerly of Ionia, died Monday evening, July 12, at the 
home of her daughter, Mrs. Anthony Funk, 515 Blickie Place, Grand Rapids, after 
a long illness.

Mrs. Powell was born May 29, 1862 in Poland and came to America in 1887. She 
was married to Joseph Powell who preceded her in death in 1939.

She is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Frank Grescoviak of Ionia, Mrs. Anthony 
Funk of Grand Rapids, with whom she made her home, Mrs. Gus Makowski of Grand 
Rapids, and Sister Mary Leonita and Sister Mary Walter of Marygrove College; 
four sons, Walter, William and Joseph of Ionia and Adam of Flint; 20 
grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

The body reposes at the Latzek Third street, Grand Rapids and funeral services 
will be conducted Friday morning at 9 o’clock at St. James church in Grand 
Rapids.

Interment will be at Mt. Olivet cemetery in Ionia.
