Belding Banner-News, 21 Jul 1962

Otis E. Powell, 66, route two, Belding, died Sunday, July 17, at Mecosta
Memorial Hospital, Stanwood, Michigan, following a lengthy illness.  He was born
September 3, 1899 in Vergennes Township, Lowell.  He had been a resident of
Belding for many years.  He was a retired truck driver for the City of Belding.
 Mr. Powell was married June 7, 1930 to the former Martha Van Conant.

Survivors include his wife Martha; four daughters, Mrs. Mary Shannon and Mrs.
Jean Tallman, Lansing, Mrs. Minnie Orwig and Miss Florence Powell, Belding; five
sons, Ray, Thomas, Harry, John and Harvey, all of Belding.  A brother Roy P.
Smith, Belding; 15 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild also survive.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 19, at Fitzjohn-Courser Funeral Home,
Belding with Rev. Robert Lilley of the First Baptist Church officiating. 
Interment was in River Ridge Cemetery.  Pallbearers were Darwin Powell, Larry
Powell, John Lambertson, Robert Nason, Paul Conklin and Don Rowe.
