Powell, 70, of 103 West Washington street, Ionia, died Friday at Veteran's Facility hospital, Saginaw, where he had been a patient for three days. He had been transferred from the Ionia County Memorial hospital. Born September 9, 1887 in Ionia, he was a son of Joseph and Julia (Whitelock) Powell and spent his entire life in Ionia. He was a veteran of World War I and was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic church. Surviving are five sisters, Mrs. Frank Grescoviak of Ionia, Mrs. Anthony Funk and Mrs. Gus Makowski of Grand Rapids, Sister Mary Walter, I.H.M., River Rouge, and Sister Leonita, I.H.M., Wayne; three brothers, William and Joseph of Ionia and Adam of Flint. Rosary will be recited Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. at the Myers funeral home and funeral services will be held Monday morning at 9 o'clock at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic church. Burial will be in Mt.
