Funeral services for Herbert E. Powell, 88, who died early Tuesday morning, 
were held Friday afternoon at 2:30 at the First Baptist church with the Rev. 
W. W. Pixley officiating.  Miss Ethel Crispin was organist.  Interment was in 
Highland Park cemetery.  Pallbearers were Ormison Hilborn, Ben Carter, Lee 
Wiseman, Ernest Wheeler, Guy Edington and Harold Signs.

Attending the services from away were George McIntyre, Michigan director of 
Agriculture; Maynard Brownlee, director of distribution of the Michigan Farm 
Bureau; Keith A. Tanner, director of membership service of the Michigan Farm 
Bureau; Nile Vermillion, manager of the Farm Bureau Insurance Companies; Arlo 
E. Wasson, manager of Farm Petroleum Co-op; Edwin F. Steffen, general council 
of Michigan Farm Bureau; Dan E. Reed, assistant Legislative council of 
Michigan Farm Bureau; and William C. Gaegley, chemist for the State of 
Michigan; all of Lansing; Mr. and Mrs. Ralph W. Powell of Columbus, Ohio; Mr. 
and Mrs. Earle Harrison, Miss Patricia Powell, Miss Della Waterbury, Mrs. 
Coral Moore of East Lansing; Mr. and Mrs. Ira Garlock and Mr. and Mrs. Conrad 
Churchill of Carson City; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hastings, Mrs. Lena North of 
Belding; Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Hyde of Morley; D. J. Waterbury, Leslie S. 
Hawley of Lansing; Homer Downing of Lake Odessa and Mr. and Mrs. George 
Whitman of Fenwick.
