Power died at the home of his son Glenn, of Saranac, Saturday night following a long illness which he was stricken early in the winter after he came from his home in Belding last fall to make his home with his son. Mr. Power was born in Brooklyn, February 17, 1841 and came to Grattan with his parents when a child of four years of age. When he was 12 years old he went to live with Mr. and Mrs. Rufus Cook of Cook's Corners. He enlisted in Company C first Michigan engineers and mechanics in December, 1883 and was made sergeant July 17, 1865 a few weeks prior to his being mustered out of Service September 22, 1865. He was one of Sherman's army who made the march to the sea. In July, 1876, he was united in marriage to Miss Eva Patterson, of Belding, who died 10 years ago.
