The Belding Banner, Thursday, March 26, 1903
Moses Powers who has been a resident of this city for a number of years, died 
at his home last Friday morning aged 69 years.  Before the deceased came here 
he resided in Ionia and for some time was a contractor and builder and enjoyed 
a lucrative business, he was a mason by trade and in his younger days was an 
exceptionally good one, but for the one bad habit which fastened itself upon 
him that of allowing strong drink to get the mastery over his appetite might 
have been as he had often remarked, in affluent circumstances.  He leaves 
besides his wife, a son Lavern Powers and one daughter Mrs. Caddie McGraw.
