Walter Prater, 73, of Orleans passed away Saturday, May 6, 2006, at his home. 
Walter was born July 7, 1932 to George and Susan Bailey Prater in Magaffin 
Kentucky. Walter was raised in Kentucky where he eventually met the love of 
his life, Luranie Wireman Prater. They were married May 20, 1952 in Lima, 
Ohio. Walter worked as a logger, a handyman, and was a general laborer for 
Brown's in Ionia for 15 years. He had many hobbies but loved wheeling and 
dealing, fixing lawnmowers, playing music, and generally repairing things.

Walter is survived by children Sandra and David Schneer (Ohio), Mary and Dean 
Nickell (Orleans), Arther and Paula Prater (Orleans), Connie and Bruce Hale 
(Ionia), Linda O'Connor (Orleans), John Prater (Orleans), Bernice and Koven 
Wright (Stanton), grandchildren Lisa Dennis, Debbie Brush, Missy Doty, Tammy 
Nickell, Melanie Velasquez, Bonnie O'Connor, Angel Harrington, Jessica Booms, 
Stacy Kirby, Tonda Prater, Bobby-Jo O'Connor, Eric Hale, Todd Wright, James 
Wright, Britany and Johny Ray Prater, Vicki and Jenny Phelan, Aaron Schneer, 
and 23 great-grandchildren. Walter was preceded by his lovely wife Luranie, 
who passed away in September 2005.

There will be a Service for Walt Wednesday, May 10, 2006 at 1 p.m. with a 
visitation at 11 a.m. at Huffman-Brigham Funeral Chapel in Belding.
