Pratt, probably the oldest of the pioneers, died at the home of his son in Easton, August 10th. He was born in New York state in 1813 and came to Michigan in 1837, moving to Lyons three years later, where he built the first mill within the present limits of the township. It was located on the banks of Libhart creek, and the building is the large red structure now located on South Dexter street, Ionia, and recently purchased by Mr. Anderson for a marble works. Mr. Pratt resided in Lyons 26 years, and identified himself largely with the development and material interests. In 1866 he moved to Saranac, and after a residence of seven years there, moved on to a farm in Keene.
