Mrs. Helen A. Pratt, widow of the late Elija Pratt, died Wednesday of last 
week, at her home in Ionia township.  The funeral services were held at the 
house at two o’clock Saturday afternoon and interment made in the family lot 
at Saranac.  Rev. C. J. Kruse, pastor of the Ionia M. E. church, officiated.  
Mrs. Pratt was a pioneer teacher in the rural schools of Ionia county and at 
one time taught the Sessions school in the little stone school house just west 
of the county farm, said to be the first institution of learning to be erected 
in Ionia county.  She was 78 years old.
