Ionia Daily Standard, 21 Dec 1891

Hiel Preston, of Orleans, died on Thursday, Dec. 17.  He was born in Catskill, 
Green county, N.Y., Dec. 3, 1804.  He was married to Lydia Goff, Sept. 29, 1833.  
They moved to Orleans, this county, in 1847.  Five children were born to them.  
Phebe J., the wife of Rev. D. H. Shelly, is the only one of the family now 
living, except Jane Meeks, an adopted daughter.

One of the pioneer families of Ionia county is nearly all numbered with the dead.
