Ionia Sentinel - Thursday, April 19, 1900

Jennie, wife of Benjamin Preston, died at 2 o'clock Monday morning, at her home 
on Lafayette street. Deceased was a daughter of George A. Jewell, of Grand 
Rapids, formerly of Ionia. Mr. Jewell arrived Sunday evening. A sister, Mrs. 
Loveless, also of Grand Rapids, was with her during her illness. Mrs. Preston 
was 26 years old and the death seems particularly sad from the fact that 
besides the husband three small children, the eldest about five years old, and 
the youngest but 18 months, survive her. She had been ill about a week, but 
sudden fatal change set in late Saturday  night. The funeral was held from the 
Church of Christ at 10:30 Monday morning and the remains were taken to Grand 
Rapids at noon for interment.
