William V. Pretzel, 78, of Marion, passed away Tuesday morning, Jan. 26, 2010,
at his home.  He was born Nov. 14, 1931, in Belding to William F. and Mary L.
Dietz Pretzel.  He married Lorraine D.Mahlich on Jan. 18, 1952.  “Wild Bill”
lived life to its fullest.  He truly loved his family and friends and had a very
soft heart for animals.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Lorraine; his daughter, LuAnn (Klaus)
Heinart of Traverse City; and two sons, Steven Pretzel of Greenville, William
Pretzel Jr. of Mesa, Ariz.; his grandchildren, Michael (Angie) Pretzel, Laura
(Jim) Hill, all of Lakeview, Gavin Meyer of Traverse City; his
step-grandchildren, Jarod (Jessica) Topper of Holland, Kelly (Jack) Johnson of
Greenville; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Maudie Harrington of Belding; a
brother, Chuck (Fran) Christensen of Charlotte; and many friends.  He was
preceded in death by his parents, several siblings and his grandson Ryan.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place.  A celebration of his
life will be 2 p.m. Sunday at the Marion Eagles Club in Marion.  In lieu of
flowers, memorial gifts may be given in Bill’s name to your local animal
shelter.  Funeral care and cremation services were entrusted to
Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding.
