Veteran of Civil War and Indian Campaign Also Was Former Lumberman. Captain J.O. Probasco, veteran of the Civil war and of the Indian campaign which followed, died at Blodgett Memorial Hospital Friday afternoon at the age of 74 years. Captain Probasco was a resident of Muir, where he operated a hardware store for many years, also being identified with the lumber industry of that section of the state in the early days. He was born in Ohio and came to Michigan when only twelve years old. He is survived by his widow, one daughter, Mrs. A.A. Stoddard of Muir, one son, Harry O. Probasco, 334 Benjamin Ave. Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at the home in Muir. Additional Comments: Transcribers note: Jacob Ormand Probasco was the son of Mary Carrington Raymond and Henry R. Probasco. Jacob was born Aug 20, 1844. Jacob and his wife, Mary Ophelia (Spire) were the parents of one daughter, Delia, whom married Arthur A. Stoddard and one son, Henry Ormand Probasco.
