The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Thursday, February 27, 1969


A former Belding businessman, Hearl D. Punches, 75, of 105 Wayfare, 
Greenville, Tenn. died Wednesday following a short illness.  He was born 
November 10, 1893 in Hamilton and was married to the former Bertha Rerick, who 
died August 28, 1953.

He was a baker by trade and former owner and operator of Punches Bakery of 
Belding 15 years, leaving the Belding area in 1944.  He was also a member of 
Elks lodge of Ionia.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. William Afman of Greenville, Tenn. and a son 
Edward Punches of Belding; four grandchildren and one brother, Asa Punches of 
Beaumont, Texas.

Funeral services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Huffman funeral home in Belding.  
Rev. Wilford Wood will officiate and burial will be at River Ridge cemetery.  
Visiting hours at the funeral home will be Friday from 7 until 9 p.m. and 
Saturday from 2 until 4 p.m. and 7 until 9 p.m.
