Charles E. Pung, age 86, of Ionia, passed away Oct. 1, 2015.  He was born June 23,
1929, in Portland the son of George and Rose (Smith) Pung.  Charles married Ethelyn
Bailey on Sept. 25, 1948, in Portland.  He worked at Fisher Body for 40 years and
was a member of SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church.

Charles is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Ethelyn Pung of Ionia; children,
Charles (Katherine) Pung of Ionia, James (Julie) Pung of Saranac, Michael Pung of
Ionia, and Steve (Janet) Pung of Crystal; sisters, Jen Droste of Westphalia, Colleen
(Jim) Hayden of Saranac, and Cathy Wyatt of Georgia; brother, Ernest Pung of
Georgia, Herman (Janenne) Pung of Boyne City; step-brother, Richard (Alice) Foreback
of Portland; 11 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and
great-great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers,
George Jr. and Donald; sisters, Mary Ann Simon and Ann Bennett.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, Oct. 7, 11 a.m. at SS Peter & Paul
Catholic Church with Father Luis Garcia celebrant.  Interment at Portland Cemetery. 
Those wishing may make contributions in Charles’ name to the Great Lakes Hospice.
