Ionia Sentinel-Standard- Tues. April 27, 2013

Marguerite H. Pung, 94, of Ionia passed away April 20, 2013 in Ionia. She was 
born Jan. 17, 1919 in Lyons Twp., Mich., the daughter of Leo and Pauline 
(Simon) Cook. Marguerite married Virgil Pung May 3, 1941 in Pewamo. He preceded 
her in death in 2005.

She taught for 28 years in Saranac, Muir, Welch Road and SS Peter& Paul School 
systems. She was a member of SS Peter & Paul Ladies Alter Society, Michigan 
Education Association and Retired Teachers Association. Marguerite had a great 
sense of humor and loved to farm and travel with her husband. She was very 
close with her family and adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren. 

Marguerite is survived by her children, Pamela (Jerry) Simon of Lyons and 
William Pung of Ionia; daughter-in-law, Janice (Wesley) Pung-Porier of Ontario; 
grandchildren, Scott (Heather) Hoy of Ionia, Julie (Chris) Stanley of Saranac, 
Eric Pung and Fiancée Belinda Schafer of Ionia, Stacie (Andy) Marsman of Ada, 
Jason (Erin) Pung of Midland, Krista (Jeff) Crawford of Birch Run and Kevin 
Pung of Louisiana; 17 great grandchildren and several brothers and sisters-in-
law.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 24 at SS 
Peter & Paul Catholic Church with Father Michael Danner celebrant. Visitation 
will be held Tuesday 6-8 p.m. with scripture service at 7:30 p.m. at Lake 
Funeral Home of Ionia and visitation Wednesday one hour prior to service at the 
church. 

Anyone wishing may make memorial contributions in Marguerite’s name to SS Peter 
& Paul School, Ionia Commission on Aging or Ionia Area Hospice. Online
