Pung, 74, of 438 Center, Portland, died Wednesday at St. Lawrence hospital in Lansing following a brief illness. He had been a patient one week. Born in Westphalia, December 13, 1896, he was the son of Peter and Mary Pung. He was a lifelong area farmer, veteran of World War I and a member of Dale Hyland American Legion post. Surviving are two brothers, Herman of Portland and Richard of Eagle, and a sister, Ms. Catherine Carpenter of Ionia. Funeral services will be Saturday at 10 am at St. Patrick Catholic church in Portland. Fr. Joseph Malewitz will officiate and interment will be at Portland cemetery. Rosary will be recited Friday at 8 pm at Neller funeral home in Portland. Military services will be under the auspices of the Dale Hyland American Legion post. ___________________________ Sentinel-Std. Saturday, June 26, 1971 ERNEST W. PUNG Fr. Bearers were Ernest, Roger and James Pung, Richard Pung, Jr. and Charles Pung, Jr., John Simon and James Hayden.
