MRS. ELEANOR LAPHAM-PURDUN

Eleanor Purdun nee Lapham was born in Seneca Co, Ohio, Aug. 22nd 1851 and died 
at her home in Odessa township, Ionia Co., Oct. 27, 1910. When only five years 
old she moved with her parents to Michigan. On January 8, 1865 she was united 
in marriage to Wm. Purdun. To them were born six children; Clyde,Eleon, Gertie, 
Wesley, Myrtie and Elery. Gertie and Wesley passed away in infancy.

Mrs. Purdun was a kind and loving wife and mother and was loved by all who knew 
her; she bore her sickness with patience and said she was ready to go and meet 
her God; she died happy, and just before she passed away she sang, “Rock of 
Ages” then bid all good bye and left this world of care to be forever at rest; 
she leaves to mourn her loss a husband, four children, seven grandchildren, one 
brother, two sisters, grandchildren, one brother, two sisters, and a host of 
friends who will sadly miss her but their loss will be her eternal gain. 

The funeral services were held Sunday in Lake Odessa at the Congregational 
church conducted by Elder I.H. Mourer. She was laid to rest beside her children 
in Lakeside cemetery.

Those from a distance to attend the funeral were Mrs. Mart Tupper and son Ervey 
of Blanchard, Sammie Haight and wife and Mrs. Nora Derby of Sebewa, Mrs. Ida 
McDougall of Lainsburg, Alf Haskins of Lowell, Mrs. Freeman Haskins, Henry 
Haskins, Mrs. Mary Edson and Willie Edson and wife of Saranac.
