Putnam, 52, died early Wednesday morning at his home on the State road following a long illness. Mr. Putnam had been in failing health since September, but he had been critically ill for the past few weeks. He was born at Homer in 1883, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Putnam. He attended school as a boy at Homer, and when he was 14 years of age he came to Ionia with his parents. For a number of years he was employed at the Putnam dye works, which was owned and operated here by his father. He was married to Miss E. Hall, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Hall, of Ionia township. Mr. Putnam had been employed at the Ypsilanti Reed factory since 1921, and he was forced to quit work there last fall because of poor health. He is survived by his wife; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Putnam, of San Francisco, and one sister, Mrs. Lulu Stanley, also of San Francisco. Funeral services will be held from the Stone funeral home on Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock, with Rev. Paul L. Stewart, of the Church of Christ, officiating. Interment will be at Highland Park cemetery.
