He came to Michigan in 1853 and died March 26, 1916. Many y ears of his life were spent in Otisco township. He came from Kalamazoo to Grand Rapids by stage and from Grand Rapids to Otisco by private conveyance making his home with Tiberus Belding, afterwards making his permanent home in Cook's Corners. He was a charter member of the Washington club which has just celebrated its 50th anniversary. At this time he was the only living charter member living. In 18787 he came to Ionia working for many years with George Pickhaver and Charles Hitchcock in the boot and shoe business. After leaving Ionia he resided in Glen Ellyn, Rogers Park and Chicago, afterward returning to Michigan to make his home on the farm at Woodard lake and later was a familiar figure in Ionia. He leaves one daughter, Mrs. Nellie Harrington, with whom he made his home. Funeral services were held at fielding Wednesday morning. Norman Putney died yesterday at Traverse City, the body to be brought to Belding for burial. Deceased was over 90 years of age, and was for many years janitor at the central school here. He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Nellie Harrington of this city. Additional Comments: Funeral: Wed.
