"Dick" Putney, 82, of Lyons passed away Dec. 15, 2001. He was born in Eaton County April 20, 1919, the son of Robert and Nettie (Humphrey) Putney. He retired in 1976 as a millwright from Fisher Body after 33 years of faithful service. He was a member of the U.S.W. Local #602 and a past member of Oneida Gospel Church and Lyons Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by son, Steven Gary in 1943; two sisters and one brother. Surviving are Ethelyn (VanBuren) his wife of 60 years; daughter, Janis (Daniel) Fourman of Crystal; sons, Roger (Carol) Putney of Lyons and Phillip (Margaret) Putney of Belding; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brother, Morris (Patricia) Putney of Grand Ledge; sisters, Julia Shaw and Ida Kwant both of Grand Ledge and Zella Challender of Orangevale, Calif. Services were held Dec. 18 at the Gorsline-Runciman Portland Chapel, Portland, with the Rev. Kenneth Harger of Shiloh Community Church of Orleans officiating. Interment followed in Portland Cemetery.
