She completed a course at the Ionia County Normal this year and commenced her chosen profession as schoolteacher in the Hunter district, Sunfield Township, in September. She continued her teaching until last week Tuesday when she was taken sick with a sore throat. She was unable to return to her work Wednesday and was taken to the hospital Thursday. The streptococcus poison spread through her system and with other complication setting in caused her death. Miss Peabody had spent her entire life in this community, her parents living on a farm one-mile west and a little north of town in Sebewa Township, Ionia County. She was a most excellent young lady with a very promising and useful life before her. She took an active part in the various social affairs of the community and was always ready to give of her time and talent to help along any good cause. During her four years in the Sunfield High School she always received high marks and took a leading part in many school activities. She was an unusually talented young lady with every prospect of rising high in her chosen profession has scores of friends and will be greatly missed by the entire community. OBITUARY: Iris Louisa, second daughter of Mr and Mrs Snow Peabody, was born September 16, 1910 and passed from this life October 29, 1929 aged 19 years 1 month and 10 days. She graduated from the Sunfield High School in the class of "28 and from the Ionia County Normal in 1929. One of her highest ambitions was realized when she started teaching. The scholars of the Hunter school were the fortunate ones and had learned to love her very dearly and won their ways to her heart in the two months she was there. She also loved music and her excellent playing gave pleasure to a large circle of friends. Those remaining to mourn their loss are father and mother, two brothers, four sisters and many other relatives and friends who will miss her loving kindness and cheerful disposition. The funeral was held Tuesday at the Sunfield Methodist Episcopal Church with an attendance of more than could get into the building. Rev. Clark Phillips of Vermontville officiated. Interment was at the Sebewa cemetery. Relatives and friends from out of town to attend the funeral were from Overland, Ohio, Royal Oak, Lake City, Lansing, Grand Ledge, Ionia, Lyons, Olivet, Lake Odessa, Charlotte, Vermontville, Detroit and Wayne. -----------------------------------------------------
